Dragon Trellis came about because of a papaya tree outside my studio that was ready to burst with a cluster of bulging ripe fruits. They reminded me of eggs about to hatch. I wondered what type of spawn they would be and who they would belong to and wah lah! Dragon Trellis was born. This piece was purchased by The Hawaii State Museum of Art and culture. It is framed on the top and bottom with antique dyed kimono silk and hung like a scroll using two rattan poles.
